<< …here are 4 nice photos of Berck life in 1915 – 1916 + a nice document – a certificate for payment of Defence Nationale Tax in 1915 at a Berck Bank. The photos belonged to my late grandmother Priva Horowitz (later married and turned Bendet, died in 1987) who stayed at Villa Normande for treatment of a broken knee from December 1912 to early 1917 (she was originally from Warsaw but could not return home because of the World War). In the photo called « At Berck – V. normande.. » Priva is the first girl to the right. I believe Priva once told me that the soldiers in all the photos are injured Turkish soldiers who came to Berck during the First World War to be treated… >>
